Outer Banks 4th of July 2013 Firework & Celebration Information

Are you ready for some 4th of July fun?  The Outer Banks are home to some of the best Independence Day celebrations in the country.  We have a list of fireworks shows from Corolla to Hatteras so no matter what part of the beach you are on, we’ve got you 4th of July plans covered!

Corolla 4th of July Celebration

July 4 (5-10 p.m.) at Currituck Heritage Park

Activities in the park will begin at 5:00 pm, with the fireworks show scheduled for approximately 9:00 pm. Guests will enjoy a watermelon-eating contest, cornhole tournament, live music, children’s activities, vendors and more.

Please remember that no alcohol is allowed inside Currituck Heritage Park. Also, the Whalehead Club boat ramp will be closed on July 4 for the entire day. More event information can be found at the Currituck County Tourism website, at www.visitcurrituck.com

Town of Duck 9th Annual 4th of July Parade

July 4 (9 a.m.) Route follows Scarborough Lane towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then heads down Christopher Drive ending back at Duck Road (NC 12).

Duck’s one-mile parade begins with a concert and community social featuring refreshments, awarding of parade trophies a flash mob dance routine and music by Ruth Wyand and Friends

If you are attending the parade, please arrive early so you can get a good spot on the parade route.  Parking in Town is at a premium, so please plan to walk or ride your bicycle and come early for the best spots!  For more information or to register an entry for the parade visit www.TownofDuck.com.

Town of Nags Head Annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular

July 4 (9:25 p.m.) at  Nags Head Fishing Pier, Milepost 11.5

The fireworks display will last approximately 25 minutes and Nags Head Police Officers will be directing local traffic at the conclusion of the fireworks.

The following public beach accesses are recommended for access to the beach for fireworks viewing:

Manteo July 4th Celebration Music and Fireworks

July 4 (8 p.m.) at Outdoor Pavilion at Roanoke Island Festival Park

Don’t miss this spectacular July 4th tradition on the Outer Banks! Roanoke Island Festival Park, the Town of Manteo, and NCSA invite you to honor our nation’s independence and freedom with an evening of patriotic music and dazzling fireworks. The Blue Aces, a division of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of American Band, will begin their patriotic performance at 8 p.m.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

Rodanthe Independence Day Celebration

July 4 (2 p.m.) at Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building

Come out and enjoy patriotic music, a reading of the Deceleration of Independence and a watermelon feast. This is a FREE family-friendly event!

4th of July Fireworks on Hatteras Island

July 4 (9 p.m.) at Avon Fishing Pier

Tune to 95.9 FM from 9-10 p.m. to hear a live broadcast of the fireworks along with patriotic music.

*Locals Tip: If you are looking for the best seat in the house make sure you visit Jockey’s Ridge State Park, which will be open late on July 4th for firework viewing.
